Emilia Romagna is a region in central-northern Italy rich in history, culture, traditions and breathtaking landscapes. There are many attractions and wonders for the eyes and the spirit in a mixture of colours and scents of the earth, of joy, music, art and food and wine.

Lying between the course of the Po to the north and the Apennine hills to the south, this region is considered among the most fertile and productive in Italy, thanks also to the influence of the Adriatic Sea which mitigates the climate in the coastal area. The contrast between the sea and the mountains creates climatic diversity for the benefit of the vineyards, ensuring the production of numerous types of wines deriving from native and international grape varieties. The region is divided into two distinct geographical and cultural areas: Emilia, in the western part of the region, and Romagna, in the eastern part. The two areas are distinguished both by the different cuisine and by the grapes that are grown and therefore the wines that are made from them. Emilia is the undisputed homeland of "Lambruschi", sparkling red wines, while in Romagna the wine becomes predominantly still and is produced with Sangiovese, Albana and Pignoletto grapes. 


In Emilia there is only one DOCG, the Colli Bolognesi Classico Pignoletto DOCG. In the Piacenza area, Barbera and Croatina and in part Bonarda characterize the denomination Gutturnio DOC. The Parma area, with the Colli di Parma DOC, differs in the prevalence of white wines over red wines. The areas of Reggio-Emilia and Modena are instead dominated by the cultivation of Lambrusco, with the denominations Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC, Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro DOC and Lambrusco Salamino di Santa Croce DOC. Montù and Pignoletto are widespread in the Bologna area, both white grapes with the denomination Reno DOC. Also in the province of Bologna is the Colli d'Imola DOC. In Reggio Emilia the Colli di Scandiano e Canossa DOC and the Reggiano DOC, while in the province of Piacenza there is the DOC Colli Piacentini and the Ortrugo dei Colli Piacentini DOC, based on the homonymous white grape variety. In the area of ​​Ferrara we find the black grape variety Fortana (also known as Uva d'Oro) and whose DOC of reference is the Bosco Eliceo DOC. On the border with Romagna, the Colli di Faenza DOC extends to the provinces of Ravenna and Forlì-Cesena.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
